showerman asked why cant you put a pump on mains????
my water pressure is low, and i want to install a combination boiler, which requires 1-1.5 bar, so why cant i install a pump on the cold water mains before the boiler???surely a constant pressure of 1.5bar from a pump is ok???? please advise.
And got the following answer:
if your boiler only requires 1-1.5 bar don't worry about it. Your mains pressure just will NOT be below 1 Bar (that is the pressure that the atmosphere exerts on an object at sea level). 60 PSI is about 4.15 Bar and my Vaillant Combi switches itself off after 3.2 bar. 30 Psi from the mains (2 bar) is plenty. A pump is required where the system resistance prevents the water from going the distance, not to increase an inadequate supply. If theres only so much water arriving at your stopcock, you can't increase it with a pump.
