anyone know where i can purchase a pre-paid cell phone that plays music, not there music.i mean you know like you hear other people's phones ring.and it's a song from the radio? like that.
And got the following answer:
In the US the cell phone companies have a chokehold on the phones. They are mostly 'locked' to a particular provider and all the best phones are only accessible through a cell provider or via a gray market. It's the worst market in the world for cell phones. In almost any other country you can buy your phone from any vendor; they have the best phones easily available and they work with any provider. I travel back to the Philippines every 2 years and I always wait until I go to get a new phone... the phones are cheaper and more functional than anything in the US Market because of this stupid monopoly we have here. so.. If you are in the US your options are limited but there are phones available unlocked that work with most systems available through many independent providers and ebay, amazon etc. When you buy a prepaid phone from the cell provider they are generally locked to that provider. That is fine unless you decide to switch and then you have to pay someone to unlock your phone (which can take up to 72 hours) or you end up having to buy a new phone. The Motorola RAZR (and other Motorola brand phones) require a software package (Motorola Phone Tools) that costs $49 to allow you to sync the address book, download photos and upload ring tones via the computer. Any of them allow you to connect via the providers data network and transfer that way but that uses network air time and costs extra also. If you do a lot with a Motorola Phone you need the phone tool software. (I have seen older versions of the software available for free but have not tried it.) Most other brands of phones come with the sync software (at least I know the Nokia, Siemens and Samsung Phones do...). With that sync software you can copy your own ring tones to the phone. T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile and AT&T have prepaid plans available pretty much anywhere in the US. You can find their phones and cards at many stores such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Office Depot etc. I hear Verizon has prepaid plans also and they certainly would have the best coverage here. I don't know anyone that sells that except the Verizon stores themselves.
