The machine I'm working on does not have a line diagram and I was needing to know how the check switch that is part of the lid switch works. When I jump the N.C. it works so I know that the micro switch is bad but the other wire from the N.O. does what? Thanks.
And got the following answer:
Here's a wiring diagram of a "typical" Maytag Washer. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/washer-repair/558-maytag-washer.html It looks like the check switch is what supplies power for the agitate and spin cycles of the motor. If it doesn't make contact, the machine will just fill with water. From the diagram, it looks like the N.O. wire goes directly to a fuse, then on to the neutral line, creating a dead short. So a faulty check switch will alert you to it's failure by blowing the fuse, which stops the machine cold. Interesting design. As you may or may not know, Maytags are famous for faulty lid switches and check switches Hope this helps.
