i would begin using a 24 volt drill, then rotate the motor using the gearing provided with the drill epox 1/3 higher then the output rpm, then using a full wave rectifier and some caps to stabilize the the output current(im assuming the device you wish to power is dc). i did this with an 18 volt drill and us it to produce 13 volts dc at epox 1200 ma. btw, if you keep the drill in its case and attach the full wave rectifier to the motor and bypass the trigger and connecting the +/- lines back to the battery, you can charge the drill battery by hand and use the batt as the power source for you project. but the drill must have a very low rpm gearing in the transmission to achieve the desired voltage. be creative!
