Tha Greatest asked Is there a way to get a printer cartridge out of a printer without a power supply?
My old printer has a printer cartridge in it, and I can't find the power supply cord to it anywhere.... Is there a way to get it out without the power supply? Thanks, well now I have another question lol, I have my printer hooked up and it turns on, but no ink, so I tried to run a test page or print another one (Didn't realize no ink at this point) but should the page still run through? Because a page didn't even go through, I was just wondering is there something wrong?
And got the following answer:
Most likely not, at least not easily, and probably not without breaking it, but if breaking it is of no concern..... Inkjet printers move the ink cartridges to a location, lock them down to seal them in order to try to keep the ink fresh at the printheads so they don't clog up. Without power, moving the carrier back out to get the cartridge out is near impossible in some printers. If the printer hasn't been used in some time, then most likely the ink cartridges are already clogged and probably not worth the effort as they probably wouldn't be any good anymore anyhow. That printer was a pretty old model anyhow. There are many newer, and fairly inexpensive, inkjet printers available now, that it might be worth it to just get a new one. You can also probably find some used ones on Craigslist if you like. UPDATE: If there is no ink cartridge installed, or the ink cartridge is empty, then the printer will not try to print or pull any paper through, it will just report an error. You'll need to install or replace the ink cartridge before it will try to do anything.
