The Repiglican asked Under the 14 defining characteristics of Fascism which ones do not apply to the United States?
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed. 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
And got the following answer:
I'll answer each of these short and sweet, not to overpower your tiny brain. This will be long, but I could go into it deeper. I will of you want me to. 1) Have you seen overpowering propaganda? That's North Korea. We don't have flags in our yards if we don't want to. We don't have to listen to the National Anthem before the SuperBowl. We are never forced to see or hear anything we don't want to. If you don't want to read an article about Obama, you don't have to. 2) Please refer back to middle school when you studied the Constitution. Torture is illegal. Water boarding, by the way, is something the GOP wanted, not the Democrats. Executions are mainly over, Texas, a red state, is the worst offender. The only two successful assassinations of presidents were done to Dems. Lincoln was a Republican, but the parties switched after that. He was Northern, the Democratic part of America. And obviously Kennedy was a Democrat. 3) That's the choice of the people, and besides, America is becoming more accepting of other groups of people. We have a black president! We are trying to eliminate terrorists and the like, but why the fuck to you have a problem with that, you fascist? 4) Military spending is being lowered. The party opposing that is the Republicans. 5) Romney is the one that wanted to limit women's rights, end abortion, and end gay marriage. Exactly why Republicans loved him. 6) Honey Boo Boo is sooooooo censored. Joking aside, FOX is the channel that tampers with videos and makes up lies. It has been caught over and over again. It should be more censored, censored to prevent outright lies. 7) America's position as the world power couldn't be stressed more. We are actually too fearless, not fearful. 8) Republicans want that. Reagan even said he wanted to make the Bible that Law, not the Constitution. FOX mentions God every five minutes, as do any Republican. Take Romney, for example, and he's even a Mormon, with polygamous grandparents, no less. 9) Only in a lazzeiz-faire economy, which, again, is what the GOP wants. It is not what we currently have, but we have in the past. 10) Republicans want to end unions, examples being President Reagan and Governor Walker. Democrats want to preserve them. 11) When was the last time your teacher was arrested? Never? That's why! Teachers are maybe a little too protected, able to tell a few lines of bullshit before getting in trouble. We've all had those teachers, but we've also all had great ones. We have freedom of expression here, and the fact you wrote this proves you haven't been punished. Harvard is the #2 or #3 university in the WORLD, proving we do not frown upon education. Our schools have art programs, and never has someone expressed themselves harmlessly and been punished by the government, not with a Democrat in charge, anyway. 12) Police have abused their power before, but it is often punished. Americans are guaranteed trials, and our punishments aren't nearly as severe as some other countries, like say, any of them in Africa. The death sentence is rarely used, and those in prison are usually guilty. No system is perfect, so innocent people do get punished, but find one country where it's not that way. 13) We ELECT these people. The House is GOP dominated, and trust me, it's not because Obama chose that. When he was made President, his senate seat was trying to be sold, but he's a Democrat! It happens to us, too, but actually more! Still, it was stopped! Nixon was a Republican, and he was caught! 14) You're just pissy because you lost. The only election in which the popular vote was different than the electoral and swayed to the other guy was between Bush and Al Gore. Bush won, and he is a Republican. Besides, if they were rigged, the majority would be outraged at results, starting to tip people off. Because the majority is happy, you know it wasn't rigged. The exception was, again, Bush and Al Gore. Everything you put here that made Democratic America Fascist wasn't true, but it is what the GOP is extremely open and obvious about wanting. You tore down your own party. In the end, you just made the Democrats look even better.
