This box also changes the type of current from AC (alternating current) like we use in our houses, to DC (direct current) which is the type of current made by batteries All of this is housed in an inline box or box mounted on the outlet, instead of putting it in the unit itself...it's more convinient, cheaper to make, and easier to design this way.
