Ashley asked How do I reset the safety switch on a Rheem Quiet 80 Heater and where is the safety switch?
Apparently this type of heater has a safety switch that is automatically triggered every time the power goes out while the unit is running. I have been searching online for 2 hours, and called 5 heating repair centers, yet cannot find out how to re-set this stupid safety switch. We are freezing, and no heating companies can come out for 2 days. If anyone can help, I would SO greatly appreciate it! I just need to know how to re-set the unit, or re-set the elusive safety switch. We have already tried all the basics..unplugging unit for 30 minutes, changing filter, turing the gas on/off. I know what the problem is, just can't find this awful re-set switch.
And got the following answer:
im sorry bout the cold hope in can help. i believe the switch you might be looking for is actually a 5 amp fuse. open furnace compartments. locate main board look for small fuse inspect fuse if broken replace. if not broken still replace. sometimes damage is not visible. also look at transformer sometimes resetable switch is in back. look at schematic on furnace doors to trace and locate parts. migt have location of switch there.
