YOU problem is very real. It would be MUCH better to use two (or even three -- one for each motor as well) power supplies. There is ALSO the possibility of cross talk. Motors sometimes produce static "feedback" into the power supply (depending on the type of motor). If, in your situation, the motor stalls, this "glitching" in the power supply will more likely cause intermittent and erratic (and impossible to troubleshoot) problems long before the processor resets. You processor needs a stable and CLEAN source of power. Use a dedicated power supply for the processor, and make sure that it is well-filtered for high-frequency noise.
