jracer524 asked I want to install a used power supply to my computer. What tools do I need to get the job done?
My power supply is dying and I need another one in order to search for jobs. I want to save money by buying a used power supply for my desktop PC and installing it myself. So far I only know how to unscrew the bolts that hold the metal cover. The wires inside need different tools to access. The store I am going to says that the used power supply was refurbished. If I can get one to two more years out of my old computer then I am up for it.
And got the following answer:
You just need a philips screwdriver to unscrew and screw in the 4 screws that hold the power supply in place. No other tools needed. No tools are needed for the wired inside. You just plug and unplug them by hand. It's just a simple swap-out. Whatever was plugged in before, just plug it in again with the replacement power supply. Also, a used power supply isn't recommended. Unless it's a very high quality one like a PC Power and Cooling brand power supply. Those things seem to last forever.
