Now imaging such a device on a ship which is subject to pitching and rolling motions which would cause the tank level to slosh around and effect the level readings. Using a delay one such a pneumatic device would reduce the effects of liquid movment on the readings. High and Low level alarms would also benefit from the use of a delay to prevent nucance alarms cause by a momentary rise in a reading from a sloshing liquid. Having a reading sustained for a 30 second ON delay would prevent activation of an alarm from a brief momentary surge during the roll of a ship.
