Killers Fan asked Question about Project 64 Emulator?
So, I am currently playing "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" on my laptop on the Project 64 Emulator, but I came across a problem. In the water temple you have to shoot something with an arrow and then use the longshot to get all the way across before the timer runs out, but since I am on my lap top, it seems a bit fidgetey, so it will got either barely above or barely below the target so I can't make it there. I used to play it with an XBOX 360 controller but my USB thing broke, so I can't play it with a controller. It sucks because I am like very close to being finished with the temple but I can't because of that. I understand that Project 64 isn't made to run exactly perfect because it is free and all, but has anybody else come across the problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks! So, I started using Project 64k but now it completely erased my save file off of PJ64k, so I can only play from where I am at on the regular Project 64. What do I do about that?
And got the following answer:
Its MUCH better playing with a controller (i use logitech dual action, and its like a $20 controller, works perfect). But there are ways of using the keyboard, you just need a better input plugin. Download project64k from here: http://pj64k.blogspot.com/ (its based on pj64 v1.4 code, and they added netplay. it seems to not have as good emulation speed as pj64 though, so if you want to use this one, the requirements to play at full speed for all games will be higher. But you arnt download it to use it, you can if you want to.) Extract it, and go to the plugins and copy the "Nrage v2.2.2 beta" plugin, put that in your Pj64 input plugin folder. Open pj64, go to options > settings. Select the Nrage v2.2.2 beta plugin, click ok. Not go to options > configure controller plugin. Now you will see in the bottom right of this window is the joystick, there is a slider, believe it defaults to 66% (also make sure real n64 range is checked). Now around 60% should be good. if you need it lower you can do that too, just play around with it until you find one that is good enough. ALSO notice there is a config 1 and 2. You can set up 1 for normal movement/playing, and 2 for accurate shooting and have it set MUCH lower. (you would have to switch between the 2 while playing though). i play with a controller, but have also tested using a keyboard, and this will work. So you know, water temple isnt the only one where you need to shoot stuff lol. EDIT: Well i found you could get the plugin here also: http://sourceforge.net/projects/nragev20/ as i said you didnt need a new emulator, just a new controller plugin (and this came with that plugin). as for your save file, did you copy it from pj64? it should work if you copy/paste your save file (not save state, save states only work with the specific emulator). Im not sure what you mean you can only play from where you are in pj64? if you were at the water temple on pj64, you will be at the water temple on pj64k if you copied the save file.
