Seventh Day Adventist asked What is a fuel cut off switch and do I need to reset it?
I have a manual Ford Escort 93 3-door and when I filled up my tank and tried to start my car the "Fuel cut out" light went on as the car struggled to start. When I tried to start it again about 30 minutes later it won't start. Battery seems fine. Is this possibly a fuel pump issue? Should I do something with the fuel cut off switch? Also what is a fuel door? Thanks!
And got the following answer:
Generally that switch doesnt trip unless a car has been in a wreck. It is used to cut off fuel to the engine to help prevent fire in case of a serious accident. Have you been in a wreck recently? It is possible for it to malfunction on its own and trip itself i suppose, but anyways there should be a hidden door somewhere in your trunk with a small button that says fuel cut off switch. Press it. If that doesnt help you probably have a bad fuel pump.
