Normally closed contact being used as "anti-reversing" lock out is "Electrical Interlocking" as opposed to Mechanical Interlocking. Indicator lights are used to give a heads up as to which direction motor IS turning. Sometimes used in conjunction with a "Motor Not Turning" Light. Choice of Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) on a limit switch USUALLY depends on whether or not you want a "Fail Safe" condition. If you use the NC contacts on the Limit Switch to stop the motor, if the circuit opens FOR ANY REASON, then the motor stops. This is Fail Safe circuit. If you use the NO contacts and the circuit fails, the motor would continue to run because the circuit would ALWAYS be open. This would NOT be Fail Safe, but still acceptable if you do not need Fail Safe. The switching of the leads for the three Phase motor should be done on the LOAD side of the contacter.
