Charles Langston asked Can i wire a light timer to a computer led with the molex plug?
Just wondering wanted to use some fans and led lights with the power supply by itself for other purposes. If i use a regular light timer will it be compatible with the wires from a molex plug such as i cut wires in molex install light timer to wires then cap wires allowing molex plug to go to leds. Could i put two grounds on molex together in 1 ground on timer and then loop em out again. And if i put the lead in as the 12v and 5v together will that mess things up such as overloading fuses and is there any workaround for this. I know there are timers where a nuetral isnt required so thats no big deal. PLEASE tell me if there is any easier solution as this one is very hazardous i want something to where i can set the timers to say go off for 12hrs and then turn back on themselves 12 hours later.
And got the following answer:
You must NOT connect this type of circuit to ANY standard lighting equipment. If you want to run fans and lights, computer power supplies are the worst way to do it. Just get a 12 v power supply ad run them form that, and use a timer plug, your knowledge of electrics and electronics is not good enough for you to mess with mains voltages. You will kill someone. you do not know the difference between a neutral and a ground.
