Asara Klu asked How do I replace the bulb in a pot light?
It's a new house and I've never had to do this before. We have halogen pot lights throughout the house and several of the bulbs have gone. There is an outer ring that sits flat to the ceiling and doesn't seem inclined to budge. Then there is an inner ring that pivots and finally the bulb which is flush to the inter ring.
And got the following answer:
1. Pull out the whole can that houses the light (the 'can' is the term used for the cylinder that surrounds the light). This is the hardest step because we are not used to taking out the whole light fixture when changing normal lights. Pulling this down takes a little bit of effort and most will be afraid of doing unrepairable damage. Grab the outside circular frame and pull downwards away from the ceiling. It should come out fairly easily (don't worry about it falling because the wire attached to the bulb will keep it suspended). 2. Find the plug that attaches to the bulb and detach. 3. Attach the new bulb. 4. Push the entire housing/can back in the ceiling. 5. Turn on the switch. Voila!
