012340567809 asked Help trying to find an industrial 6 position joystick.?
I would like to find a joystick with 3 - 3 position switches. I would like it to be momentary forward and back, but maintained left to right. I would also like a push button on the top. it would work like this: |-|-| Where left to right clicks into place but up and down return to neutral in the middle. Similar to a shifter on a car (6-speed), but would not stay in gear. Alternatively, a 1 axis joystick (forward and back momentarily) with a 3 way rocker switch as well as a push button or on off toggle switch on on top would work great as well. If you know of something similar, please give me a link, and if not any ideas of where to look would be great! I've been looking for a long time and cannot find anything but 1, 2, and 3 axis joysticks. Is there a different name for something like this?
And got the following answer:
I would call that a 2-axis switching joystick with spring return on the up-down axis only. You can buy them but they are expensive and you probably have to buy quite a few as it would be considered a "special". The first example on page 7 of this data sheet is close to what you want: http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/29664.pdf Some spring-return joysticks allow you to remove the return spring on one axis, which might be a cheaper option.
