Greg asked Blackberry Storm vs. Samsung Omnia?
I am getting a new phone from Verizon in a month and narrowed it down to these two phones. I really wanted the iPhone, but i can't get my mom to switch to AT&T. Which phone would be most comparable? Thanks!
And got the following answer:
These are two really great phones. I have used the Samsung omnia on occssions and currently own the BB Storm. Omnia: ---------- The omnia is an attractive and sleek phone with a lot of options, but it does have its cons. The video recording on it lags a bit, and the typing on it is ridiculous. If you have medium to large fingers, forget about being able to use it, you have to use the stylus that hangs from a LANYARD off the side (looks like miniature lipstick thingy, lol). The new WinMo isn't really that great once you get past the shiny desktop. It can be rather frustrating navigating your way through the menus and trying to find what you want. It does lag a bit, but hey, it is a PDA, not gonna be perfect. This phone has a lot of great features, but you REALLY pay for that in its battery life. It has Office programs, but so does the BB Storm. One big plus is Wifi, witch BB Storm does not have (yet). But, on Verizons network, wifi isn't needed (very fast data!!). wifi would be handy if no network signal was available. BB Storm: --------------- Now the BB Storm. I have had mine over two weeks. It does have its flaws as well, but they are fixable. The screen color and contrast is AMAZING. The selectable clickable feedback screen really does grow on you, give it some time. You really can just use your fingers on this phone, no stylus needed. I have big fingers and have no difficulties selecting even the smallest of link in the browser. It can hold 8-16G media card, and has 1G internal memory. It actually comes with a 8G installed Micro SDHC media card. The browser is great, really fast and easy to use. You can zoom as close as you can stand. There are many positives I could go on about, but here are some negatives. The phone does bug out on occasion (easily fixed with a battery pull). I have had a few times where it freezes or certain apps or functions go haywire. I am using 126.96.36.199 OS right now. They are coming out with a new more stable OS soon I hear. Basically, all the negatives you hear about the phone can be fixed in the OS eventually. Dont' let BB haters drag you down. It is an excellent phone that performs better than many think. The battery life on it is way better than the Omnia too. There is no "Great" phone out there. Each has its own unique issues. Just depends on what features are most important to you. Good luck with your purchase, remember, you'll have it for two years, you make a gut decision, not a popular one! lol
