My timed light switch is attached to my ceiling fan in my bedroom, and it has several settings. I can set it to stay on for an hour, a half hour, twenty minutes, ten minutes, or indefinitely (by holding down the 'hold' button for about three seconds). The past few weeks, the timer hasn't been working. If set it to an hour, it'll stay on for about a minute. If I put it on 'hold', it'll turn off after about ten seconds. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it, and my father doesn't have the time. Help?
And got the following answer:
In-wall timers have 1 year limited warranty. Once they go bad, there is no 'reset' button. You can try turning off circuit breaker and then power back up, but I've never seen a repair for this type timer. Amazon sells the Woods 59008 http://www.amazon.com/Woods-59008-Decora-60-30-20-10-60-Minute/dp/B002RL9UUQ Or buy heavier-duty Intermatic Ei1205 http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-EI205W-Electronic-Countdown-Auto-Off/dp/B004P8KCJ2/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1334146035&sr=1-1-catcorr To install timer: turn power OFF, pull out old timer and take photo of wires before disconnecting, Then reconnect new timer with same color wires connected just like the old timer. It will have exactly same color wires, except the Leviton might have a blue wire, where the woods and intermatic have a red wire.
