spkrbox850 asked Why is my Intermatic T101 making 'tick tock' noises?
Two nights ago the power went out, I shut off the main on the circuit breaker and hooked up the generator. This morning it came back on so I unhooked the generator and flipped the main back on. Tonight I come home and I theres a fast paced 'tick tock' coming from a small box that appears to be wired into the circuit breaker panel. Ive seen this box hundreds of times, but ive never questioned its function or purpose. I opened it up and apparently its some sort of timer, 'InterMatic' model: t101. I dont know what it times but ive never needed any electrical circuits timed so I guess it doesnt really matter, im just wondering if anyone knows how to shut off the 'tick tock' sound.
And got the following answer:
Intermatic is a timer and yes there may have been outside lights maybe on this at one time and they used a timer. But if you are not sure it could be for something you are not aware of too. The tick tock is the actual Clock in it and sometimes they do make a sound usually humming more then a time clock ticking. You should see what this is for maybe nothing but at least you will know if something is out of whack and does not work right. When the power does go off because these are time clocks and use a time to say what is going on the clock does have to be set for the right time if it is being used.
