Now, wasn’t that an effortless study? We hope which you identified the post as helpful as we did. It’s hard to understand why some details is written inside a way that just makes it impossible to decipher. %keywords% is so important to numerous people today that acquiring the appropriate details, the initial time, tends to make all of the distinction in producing a timely option. And who has time to wait these days?
We have 2 electric toothbrushes, 1 electric razor, and one glade air freshner,,, which all needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet. We only have 2 places to plug things in, which leaves us 2 things that need to be plugged in. What can we do so we can use all our things but not make it look trashy?
And got the following answer:
Forget all about the "outlet extension" idea. Unless your bathroom is pretty old, it will have GFCI protection, and the extension won't work with the GFCI. If you do not have GFCI protected receptacles in the bathroom, get that updated, ASAP! Never purchase any type of electrical accessory without checking to see if it is listed for the use you intend to put it to. Just because a product as the Mark of a listing agency on it, does not mean that the use you intend for it is going to be safe. Read (and follow) the Manufacturer's Instructions before deciding how you are going to use any appliance or device. Even the use of the air-freshener may not be in compliance with the product's listing; there may be restrictions placed on it as far as distance from basins, etc. Read the Instructions; and PLEASE, don't try any short cuts or quick-fixes like extension cords. I suggest hiring a qualified, Licensed Electrician to supply you with additional 20 Amp GFCI protected receptacles, as are required by the National Electrical Code. I don't know the size or configuration of your bathroom, but the NEC allows the receptacles to be mounted to the cabinet supporting the sink, as long as this is not more than 12" below the counter height. All bathroom receptacles must be located within 36" of the edge of the sink. As for the number of appliances, etc. you want to plug in; that is one of the reasons that the Code requires bathroom receptacles to be supplied from a 20 Amp branch circuit. If the appliances are not "heating" type appliances (& even those are safe, as long as they are shut off & allowed to cool before you leave the room) you should be able to leave any number plugged in and connected safely, once you are certain the receptacles are GFCI protected. Companies & Organizations involved in the Electrical Safety Industry have found that as many as 80% of the existing GFCI receptacles installed in this country are no longer operating correctly, or providing the protection they were designed to provide. UL has recently re-written the Standard for GFCIs to include an "End-of-Life" indicator. This will tell the users when the device is no longer functioning as it should. The previous Standard (already updated) had required that any GFCI receptacles manufactured to meet it, would not allow itself to be re-set once tripped, if it were miswired, or was not functioning correctly. Even existing GFCI receptacles should be replaced if you have any doubts about their safety. Pushing that "Test" button is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself and your family. If the device does not re-set; have an electrician replace it, and look for other problems while doing so. Bet you never thought you’d get such a long answer to a “simple” question.
