cov_jack asked I replaced a light switch with 2 switches, now some lights will only come on when the others are on. Why?
These two switches (on the same panel) control four ceiling lights. On the old switch, each of the 2 switches controlled 2 lights, and they were completely independent. Each switch still controls 2 lights, but now one pair of lights will only come on when the other is turned on. How can I get it back the way it was? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
And got the following answer:
sounds like somehow you managed to wire them in a series with the first set of lights getting 120 v to the switch and the second set of lights piggy backing off of the first switch. id check the switches. there are terminals for continuous power going to other lights and terminals for switch induced power. sounds like you crossed wires somewhere in there
