SFH asked after putting on a new thermocouple heater pilot light will not stay on?
I tried lighting my heater for the season and could not get the pilot to light. after replacing the thermocouple it lit once...then stopped after switching to On on the gas valve. Honeywell 8200 valve, new honeywell thermocouple. Suggestions ?
And got the following answer:
Sometimes that will happen once or twice when you light the pilot flame after a long period of inactivity. But if you have tried it a couple of times and the flame is touching the thermocouple then you have to consider that the combination valve itself has failed. If you have a meter that reads millivolts you could make sure that your new thermocouple is working but chances are high that it is OK. At this point you should probably call a qualified gas technician.
