Evut asked how do you use thermostats and timer?
we have an old boiler with an analogue timer and have installed thermostatic valves on the radiators. do you use the timer and the thermostats at the same time or do you just leave the boiler on all the time and just control the thermostats? thanks for your help! also wondering if you could just use the timer to switch the boiler off for the night and leave the thermostats on the same temperature.
And got the following answer:
Set the rad valves to suit each individual room when you have had the heating on a couple of hours and all radiators are hot. Set the timer for when you want the heating on and when you want it off. If you leave the boiler on all the time and for instance the rad valves were not calling for heat your boiler would 'short cycle' all the time and would wear itself out and cost money on wasted gas.
