Mr Universe asked Help with electric sparker?
I am working on a project and this project involves producing a flame (no matter the size). On this project is a mechanism that sprays flammable gas through a controlled tube. To light the gas at the end of the tube is my problem though. I need to find something that can produce a spark or small flame that can ignite the gas. The igniter HAS to be electric. Example: It should be able to be attached to any electric switch that will control when it sparks or ignites. Can anyone give me an idea or product that can do what I need?
And got the following answer:
A car ignition circuit would work. Go to a junkyard and get an OLD ignition coil, the kind that uses a distributor and a driver circuit on the distributor (not the kind that has the transistor driver in the engine computer). You could hook up a 555 timer circuit that gives a millisecond or so pulse when triggered by an external signal. Run it off a 12VDC power supply.
